STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Memorial Day is just a week away, and so far it looks like the unofficial start of the summer will be cloudy and wet in the New York City area.
The early forecast, according to AccuWeather, calls for Memorial Day proper to be cloudy with a 30% chance of showers. Temperatures will reach a high of 66 degrees and cloud cover is projected at 78%.
Things don’t look much brighter on Saturday and Sunday.
AccuWeather shows partial clouds and a 25% chance of rain for both days leading up to the holiday. Saturday’s high will be 73 degrees and Sunday’s high will be 68 degrees.
Additional forecasts from the National Weather Service also show a chance for soggy weather over the holiday weekend.
That forecast does, however, say that Saturday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 75 degrees during the day. The chance of showers won’t come until the evening once temperatures start cooling down to 57 degrees, according to NWS.
